“Fiiiiiiiine,” Scarlet agrees, before twirling the bashing hammer in hands with a wide smirk. “We’re definitely waiting until everyone is distracted.” “Oh yeah, no, we’re not rushing in without a plan and getting ourselves killed,” Aibhilin is quick to agree. “They can be a good distraction, if nothing else, and that’ll let us know which verse we’re in? Especially if we wait until Luffy and Buggy get here?” “At least tell me we’re waiting until Whitebeard and his lot get here?” Stereden asks plaintively. The three friends looked at each other, then back out of the window at the gathering force of marines. “We’ve been sent to Marineford with the Welcome Pack ,” Scarlet says, disbelief evident, before grinning, wide and predatory. “And I think those might be the sleep broom and the content stick?” And Scarlet has something that looks very much like the bashing hammer and the character death shovel.” She then points towards the stick and the broom hanging at her sides. “Because unless I’m mistaken, that’s both the angst bat and the self insert sword on your back. “I don’t actually think we’re ‘normal humans’ right now,” Aibhilin points out. “I know I’m the one who said I wished we could be transported into One Piece, but that didn’t mean I expected this to happen! And we’re squishy normal humans! We’re going to get destroyed!” “Have we just been fucking isekaied?” Stereden screeches, trying her best to keep her voice relatively quiet. “I think we’re in some kind of supply ship, inside the grounds though - this isn’t the angle the Whitebeards’ came at.” “I’m not sure,” Scarlet replies, inspecting the grounds with a practiced eye. Oda’s fix-it is also good, just not canon, please.” “Because between canon and yours, or any fix-it verse, really, I know which one I would prefer. “Which verse are we in?” Aibhilin, always practical, asks. We’re in fucking Marineford in time for Ace’s execution. “Is that… Holy shit it’s the War of the Best. “Davy Jones and the seas he sails on,” Stereden stares. Marineford in all its glory, positively teeming with marines, and with a very recognisable structure built in the middle of it.

The other two hurry towards the windows as well and… there it was. “Holy moly,” Scarlet whispers, turning to face them. She gets hugged back, which means she can’t have fucked up too much, even if Scarlet is quick to head towards the window as soon as the hug ends, trying to see where they have landed. She barely waits for their answer before barreling into them and grabbing them into a group hug, which might not have been the smartest reaction to finding herself in a completely different place from where she was before, with two friends who lived countries away, one of whom she hadn’t been able to meet in real life yet (because Covid is a dick ), but she hadn’t been able to meet Scarlet in real life (because, again, Covid is a dick ) and she had promised to hug Scarlet on sight, and Stereden always does her best to keep her promises. “What the fuck?!” Stereden glances around, before her gaze settles on her companions.

Long story short, Stereden, Scarlet and Aibhilin blinked, and suddenly found themselves in a dark room in what felt like a ship, given the movement underneath their feet. But they were writers, and, more than that, they might have written enough pirate lore between the three of them to catch Davy Jones’ attention.

Had they been anyone else, it might just have stayed an unrealistic wish. “Same,” Scarlet replied, followed shortly afterwards by Aibhilin. Which resulted in her really wanting to punch Blackbeard and Akainu right where it hurt. In Stereden’s defence, she had been rewatching Marineford repeatedly to get a good grip on some characters for one (of the many) fics she was currently writing. “I wish I could just, like, jump into One Piece, kick some character’s asses and give some other characters hugs, because Davy Jones knows they need it!”

It had been a rough week for all of them, and really, it was fully understandable that, at some point during their semi-regular murder party (aka: How to Use Clue to Destress ), one of them (it was Stereden, admittedly, who really should have known better) uttered the decisive words.

Though, to be fair, the three of them should probably have known better than to tempt fate. Sabo 4 ever (or how to write a zine in 4 days and make Scarlet cry) Stats: Published: Words: 4800 Chapters: 1/1 Comments: 13 Kudos: 177 Bookmarks: 31 Hits: 893
